About Us
Playgroup was started in September 1999, in the back of a local bar. By October 2001 Playgroup had outgrown the bar and was moved to it's current location and became a non-profit making organisation.
The toys meet all the needs of children up to four years of age and all levels of development. Please feel free to explore the toy boxes as well! There are soft mats for jumping and rolling on or for just sitting and reading. There are bikes to ride on, pushchairs for playing at being mum or for helping with those first steps. We have lacing toys, puzzles and building bricks to help practice eye to hand co-ordination.
A typical Playgroup session follows this pattern:
- Free playtime on arrival
- An art activity - we might make a Father's Day card, follow a theme for the month or simply play with Playdough
- Snack time - the children sit down for a biscuit and/or fruit and a drink.
- Tidy Up time
- Music time - everyone’s favourite. The children really enjoy shaking bells, banging on drums and dancing around to well-known nursery rhymes.
Baby Group
This is only intended for small babies from 0 – 1 year old (or until you baby is walking). If you have an older sibling too please come to a normal playgroup session.

The decision to stay home with my new baby girl was an important one and I really enjoyed taking take of her. However, as the months passed I found it becoming more and more monotonous and a bit boring. Sitges Playgroup was a wonderful place I found to meet other moms, share experiences and ideas and just have a laugh. I loved meeting all the different people from so many parts of the world and hearing their stories. For Julia it was a fun place to go with so many little friends, toys, the music time, Halloween and Christmas parties and many other fun activities. We made so many wonderful friends and we both enjoyed it thoroughly!

Birthday Parties & Other Activities
In summer we meet at the beach or Terra Mar Park and have other sessions for older children. We hold fund raising activities including a Summer Fair, a Halloween Extravaganza and a Christmas Bazaar. At various times of the year there are also book fairs and clothes sales. All the money raised goes towards maintaining Playgroup, paying for rent, buying new equipment... These are times when everyone participates to make the event a success. They are always a big family occasion and an opportunity for our spouses or partners to meet each other too.
Playgroup is available for rent for your child's birthday. (Please contact us for prices.) It's the perfect space for a party and when you get home your house looks just like you left it!!
